I am heading to Mozambique with a few mates at the end of the year on a budget. The furthest we are planning on going is Inhambane. Going to be doing shore dives and will be camping. Could you guys share some info on some good dive spots, places to stay, web links and general tips.

Moz can break your heart if you stuck with out a boat, spent a week in Ponta once some years ago without a boat. Was ready to jump of a cliff by the 3rd day.

Your best bet is to head to the Inhambane area if you boat less. Tofu you can shore dive but is a huge swim to get onto decent fish

You might come right at Gunjata or Paindane on a shore dive.

Be prepared for some long swims and longer walks back along the beach to get back to your entry point as the current can hump there.

Nice so we heading to the right area. I am thinking of a day charter or getting out on a dhow. Do you know of any highlighted places to stay?

I am not keen on the dhow thing... Its to easy for those guys to leave you behind in the middle of the ocean.

Last december i did 2 shore dives, one at guinjata(waste of time) The other at paindane(awesome!) You need to get behing the rocks on the ocean side, its 5-10meters deep there and we got snoek and kingies all in the 5kg range.

Enjoy

Tons of accomodation options up north. Just google or the back pages of Get-away or ski boat magazine will have loads of options.

If you going out of season you could probably just arrive without booking and find something easily.
