Great topic Guy, controversial, but a great read.
Personally I would love to have an Elios suit on my rack, from all the reports and having dived with people wearing them they seem awesome (I'm sure a lot of the overseas brands are great) That said I would definitely lean towards a localy manufactured suit. For me the service is the key selling point, I'm pretty tough on my suits and its great to have the local backup.
I recently received a suit from Imersion and although its adequate its definitely not on a par with suits I've had in the past, the material seems fine but the stitching is a bit sub-par and the fit isn't great. It must be said, I did opt for a 'cheap' suit so as Coats explained you get what you pay for. If you are a one suit diver go to your local dive shop, if you do decide to go offshore for a suit, do your research and make sure you know what you are in for.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I managed to bum a suit off a friend, which is probably 10 years old. It is really stiff around the neck area and I battle to breath. Where about should I go to have this thing altered? Or do you think I am wasting my time. Thanks Dave.

Hi Dave . Not worth trying to save that old suit. Rather spend the money and get a product that is going to fit you properly and be a lot warmer and more comfortable. Cheers Shane

Eish Shane, was not that keen to spend so much on a new suit. A mate reckons I will easy pay R3000 which is pretty heavy. I definitely don't want to order one from overseas. Most of the guys on this forum seem to prefer Freedivers suits. Do you think a place like this might have some cheaper or second hand suits available?

Howsit, a 3mm open cell (custom) camo from freedivers is R1950. 3 days to finish. Money well spend, quality material and workmanship. After sales service that sets the standards.
You in for a treat going from a 10yr old suit to a new open cell.
