Hey Louis,

The pattern illustrated is very similar if not the shame as FREEDIVERS use to stock. I remember clearly FREEDIVERS carried a "Black & Grey" camo just like the swatch you've included and the other was "Green & Black" I also remember FREEDIVERS offering the same camo pattern in "Green Black & Grey" ... I stand under correction but PICASSO wetsuits had a very similar camo in green/black & grey/black.

Hi Fernando,

Once again I have to reter to an article in one of the old Pescasub magazines regarding what fish see. What was very interesting to me was that different species see differently - ie the area of the visible spectrum where the eye is most sensitive differs from species to species. If I remember correctly, fish which inhabit shallower water are sensitive to orange.

If you want, I can look for the article and post the relative wavelengths.

This is not that surprising if you think about it, a reef fish needs to see differently to an open water pelagic (like tuna). Them there are cave dwellers and open water reef fish!

I am not too sure, but it is probable that fish are able to see in the near-uv range as this penetrates deeper than violet light.

Hey Angelo,

I’ve been digging in the web and I’ve noticed just what you are saying about the different species having different vision requirement. It makes perfect sense … hence the question: - different backdrops, different camo suits and different camo patterns? Which camo and pattern is most suitable for what hunting? … Mmmmmm …. May be we’ve just opened a can of worms which could become very profitable for wetsuit manufactures???

If it’s not to much trouble Angelo, could you please look for that article and post it. I’m very interested in furthering my research in this area.

Thanx buddy.

Hi guys,
As promised, I’ve been doing a little research on “fish vision” and as it turns out they are armed with far better vision than what I anticipated. I’m still trying to digest some of the info I’ve gathered so far.

What I have found out thus far besides run off the mill knowledge that fish can recognize colour and have good constrast detection abilities, is some fish species have the ability to see into the Ultraviolet range and other are able to “sense” Polarized Light!!!! Eish!!! How the hell does a spearo ambush these dudes? Or should we be looking at the best means of attracting them to you?

Will keep you posted.

I don't know whether camo makes for better results, but it looks way cooler than black. I think the camo suits are there to catch the fishermen...

I have a ghillie suit for bush hunting, but you must see the smirks on the faces of the veteran hunters who shoot with jeans and khaki shirts - it's priceless

I just feel that it's better to go full-rambo in whatever you do. It impresses the hell out of people who don't know a thing about your sport... he he

I have a Freedivers Seal Skin three colour camo.

On land it looks cool and it has a grey/white, dark green and brown/bronze effect painted on.

But you should check it in the water. It is aewsome! It lights up and looks very different and shines gold.

It definetly attracts fish as they are very interessted in me, even normally wearry fish..

I do agree with Angelo though, that it works way better in shallow water and reefs. Reef fish seem to like this specific suit..
I could not establish a real difference yet in deep water with bigger pelagics, but The conditions and fish have not been up to scratch lately.

I will also have to dive with this suit throughout all the seasons to really give proper feedback.

But it does look fantastic and fits great. (custom)
